Preparation of lightweight corundum-mullite thermal insulation materials by microwave sintering

نویسندگان

چکیده

Lightweight corundum-mullite thermal insulation materials were successfully prepared by microwave sintering at low temperature. The effects of temperatures, PMMA microspheres and SiC particles on structure properties as-prepared investigated. became a hot spot under the action field, these local high temperature areas promoted formation growth mullite whiskers. burn out, leaving pores which could provide space for It was found that optimal 1400?C corresponding porosity, density bending strength samples 71.2%, 0.99 g/cm3 3.85MPa, respectively. conductivity from 0.201 to 0.313W/(m?K) between 30?C 950?C. This work demonstrated lightweight with density, good shock resistance excellent be sintering.

Microwave Sintering of High Thermal Conductivity Aln

In this study, a combustion synthesized AlN powder was sintered using microwave as heating source. The microwave was 2.45 GHz and the sintering process was carried out in a single-mode cavity. The sintering temperature was between 1800°C and 2000°C with a power ranging from 400 to 700W. The as-synthesized AlN was ground to under 2μm and yttria was used as sintering aid. The effects of the amoun...

Thermal degradation and fire behaviour of thermal insulation materials based on food crop by-products

Natural thermal insulation materials developed from renewable crop by-products and natural binders are analysed in terms of their thermal degradation and fire behaviour. A pyrolysis combustion flow calorimetre (PCFC) is used to characterise some kinds of crop by-products, including rice husk, corn pith and barley straw. This technique is complemented with a TG analysis. Six thermal insulation m...
